Debt on the Wind

Dakota Territory, 1869. James McAlister survived a war that left him nothing, and he wants only a clean season’s work on the high beaver lines. A company contract sends him into country no one has trapped in twenty years—and leaves him hunted when he comes out the lone survivor.

About
Kyle Decedue
Kyle Decedue writes historical fiction that doesn't look away.
A South Carolina native, he has served in both the military and law enforcement. That experience gives his writing a grounded understanding of weapons, equipment, leadership, and how people behave when circumstances turn dangerous and uncertain.
A lifelong student of history, geopolitics, and the military past, Kyle builds fiction that is meticulously researched and unsparingly real—stories where violence carries weight, the period is rendered without anachronism, and survival is never guaranteed.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice—Forensics, magna cum laude, from American Military University. His broader background includes public safety, emergency preparedness, training, risk assessment, and organizational readiness—experience that informs his interest in the decisions people make under pressure without turning the story into a technical exercise.
When he isn't writing, he can usually be found on a motorcycle, outdoors, traveling, or buried in a little-known corner of history.
